Sweet pepper "Zulu"
Sweet Pepper "Zulu".
Juicy, crunchy, and black!
A mid-season, very productive Polish variety.
Characteristics:
* Plant: Low-growing (40-50 cm), compact.
* Fruit: Blocky (cuboid), 3-4 chambered, weight 140-160 g.
* Color: Unique! Dark blue (almost black) at technical maturity, turning dark red with anthocyanin streaks when fully ripe.
MASTER CLASS: Growing Peppers in an Unheated Greenhouse.
1. SEEDLINGS (Start mid-March).
* Sowing: Depth 1 cm. Use trays or soil blocks to avoid root disturbance. Cover with plastic.
* Temperature: +25...+30°C for germination (5-7 days). Below +15°C, germination takes weeks. After sprouting, lower to +18°C for 3-4 days to prevent stretching, then maintain +25°C.
* Potting up: At 1-2 true leaves (approx. 20 days), move to 10x10 cm pots.
* Hardening: 2-3 weeks before planting, lower temps (day +20°C, night +16°C) and reduce watering.
2. PLANTING OUT (Late May).
Seedling age: 50-60 days (30 cm tall, budding).
Density: 3-4 plants per m2.
3. CARE & CLIMATE.
* Temp: Optimum +24...+28°C (day). Above +30°C or below +15°C causes bud drop. Soil temp should be +20°C.
* Watering: Morning, warm water only, at the root. Frequent but not excessive watering prevents blossom end rot.
* Humidity: Keep air humidity at 65-75%. High humidity makes pollen sterile.
* Feeding: Every 2 weeks (organic manure tea works well).
4. PRUNING.
Remove the "king flower" (the first flower at the main fork)! Keep 2 main stems, tie them up. Pinch off weak side shoots growing inward.
5. HEALTH FACT.
Peppers are Vitamin C champions (surpassed only by rosehips). Just 50 g of fruit covers your daily need for Vitamins C and P.
